| I
carried on like this until I was 13 years old. During that summer in
2004 I went to a Christian camp for kids my age. I had gone the year
before and liked it so I went again the next year. During the camp we
had a teaching and a message from the bible every night. These were
very different from what I’d experienced before. Most of the
preaching I’d heard in church only confused me as I couldn’t
follow and understand most of it, and I was still too young to attend
youth meetings at my church. So the type of simple, yet powerful
preaching at this camp struck me. I’d heard a message on the Tuesday which made me really think about my position with God but I put it to the back of my mind while I went about for the rest of the week. On the last night the speaker asked some youth from the camp to come out to the front and give their testimony. I’d heard people give their testimony before but I was interested this time so I listened. The speaker then gave a message and I knew that I myself wasn’t saved and I needed to. I went to my room and asked Jesus to forgive me for my sins. I asked him to cast away my sin and be a part of my life from then on, which He is. |
