RayMy
name is Ray Corrin. I was born in Liverpool and was raised in a
catholic family and I attended a catholic church with family members
whilst growing up. After leaving school I grew out of going to church as it seemed pointless for me as I was profoundly deaf and I could not hear anything being said from the pulpit.

| For
years I spent much of my time doing various things and attending a
centre for the disabled before I finally decided to go to college and
learn new skills. It was while I was attending the college that I
met Pat, who was already a Christian. Pat invited me to come to
Dovecot Church, which I accepted. The service and church itself was
completely different from the Catholic one I had attended with my
family so it was a bit of a surprise, but I enjoyed it and started to
go regularly. As a catholic I thought I would be okay as you can go to confession and confess your sins, and just be a good lad and keep out of trouble. But after reading through the four Gospels I came to realise that being good and doing good would not save you. I asked Pat what I needed to do to become a Christian, and she suggested I speak to someone in the church, which I did. After realising I needed to ask God for forgiveness and to become my Saviour I became a Christian that year in 1991. I was also baptised in December of that same year. Reading Gods Word, opened up a better light of understanding about Gods grace and gift of salvation and the reason Jesus, suffered and died on the cross for me. Life as a Christian still has its struggles and ups and downs, but we have the Lord walking with us and His grace will one day see us home to Heaven. |
