Then were there brought unto Him little children, that He should put His hands on them and pray.        (Matthew 19:13)

Children's To Children's Home Page The Tower of Babel

Noah and his sons lived on the earth. They had children and grandchildren. Soon there were thousands of people. God had commanded Noah and his sons to spread out over all the earth but the people stayed close to each other. They felt they knew better than God and did not need Him in their lives.

One day they said, "Let us make bricks and build a tower whose top reaches the heavens. We will make a name for ourselves and we wont be scattered across the earth."

So they started to build a tall tower but God sees everything and knew what was in their hearts.

As they built God gave then all different languages. As they built they asked each other for things but found that they couldn't understand what each person was saying.

So the work soon stopped. The tower was known as Babel because God confused their languages. The people separated into the different language groups and spread over the earth as they had been commanded to in the first place.
