Then were there brought unto Him little children, that He should put His hands on them and pray. (Matthew 19:13)
Mary and Joseph lived in Nazareth and were engaged to be married. One day the angel Gabriel appeared to Mary. She was shocked.
"Don't be afraid, you will have a son and call him Jesus. He will be great and His kingdom will know no end."
Mary did not understand how this would happen but Gabriel told her this baby would be God's son.
Gabriel also told Mary that her cousin Elizabeth, who was old and couldn't have children, was six months pregnant.
"For with God nothing is impossible."
Mary believed all that the angel said and went to see her cousin Elizabeth to tell her the news. When they met the baby in Elizabeth's womb jumped.
Mary praised God because He was sending the promised Messiah to save His people. Mary stayed there for three months, then went back to Nazareth.
One night an angel appeared to Joseph in a dream and said,
"Don't be afraid to marry Mary, for the baby she is having is God's Son. You will call him Jesus, for He will save His people from their sins."
When Joseph woke up he did as the angel said and married Mary.
