Elijah was a prophet. It was his job to tell the people in Israel what God wanted to tell them. The king at that time was Ahab, he was a very wicked king. He had set up altars and temples for Baal, a false god, whom his wife Jezebel served.

One day Elijah came to Ahab with a message for him from God. "There will be no rain nor dew on the land until God says.". From that day on there was no rain. Ahab was furious and so, for Elijah's safety, God told Elijah to go to the Brook Cherith. God cares for his people and Elijah would have water to drink there.

As Elijah sat by the Brook he saw ravens flying over head. They swooped down and sat next to him. It was then that he noticed that they had meat and bread in their beaks. They left it on the ground and flew off. The ravens came each morning and evening with the food for Elijah to eat.

 

One day the water in the Brook dried up. What would Elijah do now? Would God still look after him?
