Then were there brought unto Him little children, that He should put His hands on them and pray. (Matthew 19:13)
At the banquet Ahasuerus asked Esther again what her request was. This time she told the king...
... "If I have found favour in your sight please let my life be given to me and that of my people. For me and my people are to be killed and annihilated. If we were to be made slaves then I wouldn't have said anything."
Ahasuerus was angry when he heard this. "Who is he, where is he that would do such a thing".
Esther told the king it was wicked Haman. Ahasuerus was furious, he got up and went in the garden to think of what to do. Haman was terrified and pleaded to Esther for his life. When the king came back he thought Haman was trying to assault the queen and the guards were called quickly. One of the servants told Ahasuerus about the gallows that Haman had built for Mordecai, so the king told them to hang Haman on his own gallows.
Esther told the king how she was related to Mordecai and again pleaded with the king to do something to stop the law. They could not change the law that Haman had made but The king gave Mordecai his signet ring and said he could do what he liked to help his people.Mordecai wrote up a new law that said that on the day the Jews were to be attacked they could all protect themselves and fight back. The law was sealed with the king's ring and sent out to every Jew.
The Jews enemies were defeated. Every year they remember these events in the feast of Purim.
