Then were there brought unto Him little children, that He should put His hands on them and pray.        (Matthew 19:13)

Children's To Children's Home Page The Fiery Furnace

Nebuchadnezzar had a huge golden statue built that could be seen for miles. He called all the people in his land to come and bow down before it. It was a very grand occasion, the important people were there, there was a huge orchestra and the golden statue was gleaming. Then the Herald announced "It is commanded to you all. When you hear the sound of the horn and all the instruments you shall fall down and worship the golden statue that Nebuchadnezzar has set up. Whoever does not will be thrown into the fiery furnace."

When the music started everyone bowed down to the statue except Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego. The king was told, he was furious and called for the men.

"Is it true you wont bow down and worship the golden image I have set up? You will be thrown into a fiery furnace and what god can save you from that?.

They answered, "Our God is able to save us but even if He doesn't we will not bow down to your statue."

Nebuchadnezzar was now livid and told his men to heat the fire seven times hotter, tie them up and throw them in. The fire was so hot that the guards who threw Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego in, died from the heat.

Then Nebuchadnezzar looked into the fire. "Didn't we throw three men into the fire? Look! I see four men walking in the fire, they're not hurt and the fourth looks like the Son of God."

The king called to them, to come out. It was amazing as neither their clothes or hair were singed and there was no smell of fire on them.

Again the king acknowledged that their God was able to deliver and that no one should speak against their god.
