Jesus

The disciples could not believe it, Jesus had been killed. They had spent three years with him. He had never done anything wrong, he had healed people and told people about God. However on Friday he had been wrongly accused and crucified with two robbers.

Then they both believed and they remembered that Jesus said He would rise from the dead on the third day. After this Jesus appeared to all the disciples and many other people. They saw that Jesus was alive. Forty days later Jesus went up into Heaven. Just as Jesus rose from the dead, if we trust in Him when we die we shall also go to Heaven and be with him.

On the Sunday morning Mary Magdalene and some other women came to the tomb. They wanted to put special oils on the body. There was an earthquake and an angel rolled back the stone, the guards were terrified. The angel said to the women, "He is not here; he is risen". The women ran to tell the disciples. Peter and John ran to the tomb. John got there first and looked inside, he saw the linen cloths lying there. When Peter got there he went inside the tomb and also saw the cloths that Jesus had been wrapped in lying flat as if the body had gone straight through it.

The disciples felt ashamed as all of them, except John, had run away and deserted him. A man called Joseph had asked for Jesus' body, he wrapped it in a clean cloth and laid it in his new tomb that he had made for his own family. A huge stone was rolled in front of the tomb and Pilate put soldiers to guard the tomb in case Jesus' disciples tried to steal his body.
