"Where is He who is born king of the Jews? We've seen his star and have come to worship Him,"
Herod was worried. He didn't want another king.
The star led the wise men to the house in Bethlehem were Jesus was and they knelt on the knees and worshipped the young child. They had brought gifts for a king, gold, frankincense and myrrh.
These were special gifts, Gold was normally given to a great king, frankincense was given to worship God and myrrh given for someone who had been hurt or died.
That night, in a dream, God told the wise men not to go back to Herod and so they went home a different way. Then God spoke to Joseph in a dream and warned him of Herod's plans. "Take the young child and his mother, go to Egypt, and stay there until I tell you, for Herod wants to kill the child." So that day Mary, Joseph and Jesus fled to Egypt.
Meanwhile in Jerusalem, Herod realised the wise men were not coming back, he had been lied to. He was furious and sent his soldiers with orders to kill all baby boys aged two and under in Bethlehem.
So he asked his wise men to find out about this star and this king. They looked in their books and told him that the king was to be born in Bethlehem. Herod found out when the star had appeared in the sky and then told the wise men to go to Bethlehem and find the baby and then tell him, so he could worship the new king. This was a lie, he wanted to kill the new born king.

The Wise Men
Mary and Joseph were now living in a house in Bethlehem with Jesus. At this time some wise men from the East turned up at Jerusalem, the capital city, to see King Herod.
