I was brought up in the Church of England and started attending church at 4 years
of age. I have always believed in God but did not have a personal relationship with
Him. I went to New Heys High School where upon hearing the Easter story, related
by a Christian RE teacher, I realised that Jesus had died on the cross for my sins,
I was 13 yrs old
I remained in the Church of England, but did not grow spiritually, but kept my belief
in God. I joined a pre-nursing course at Mabel Fletcher College where I met two
girls, who were both born again Christians and through my friendship with them, being
invited to their homes and their church (Croxteth Baptist) , I began to grow spiritually.
My nursing career was spent at Myrtle Street Hospital and Alder Hey Hospital. In
2007 I took early retirement.
I met my husband, Harold, at the Mission England choir in 1984 and when we married
I stated to attend the church Harold attended, which was Dovecot Evangelical Church.
In November 07 my life changed when I became increasingly unwell. Following tests
I was diagnosed with an aggressive form of Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma. I was admitted
to the Royal for a course of aggressive chemotherapy. During this time I trusted
God completely for healing and I had the all clear in May 08. Prior to this on 14th
April I had a brain haemorrhage and my life hung in the balance. I slowly started
to recover only to become ill with pneumonia. After recovering from the pneumonia
I became ill through Clostridin Difficile. Through all of this, people prayed for
me and were faithful in visiting me. I had to trust God completely and He upheld
me. He walked with me every step of the way, never leaving me or forsaking me. It
is because of all His great love and care that I am here today. I am indeed a walking
miracle!
