Hi my name is Lin. In 1996 I fell seriously ill and for the following eighteen months
I remained ill. During this period I had tremendous, wonderful help from my family
and friends, but there were obviously long periods when I was alone and during this
time I found myself speaking to God, asking him to help me and be with me.
I had been thinking for some time that I wanted my daughter Aimee to go to a church
to hear about God. One day when Aimee was about 10 years old, she went to play with
a friend in Dovecot. She came home to tell me that she had attended the ‘Holiday
Bible club’ at Dovecot Church. On the Friday it was a ‘Family Fun Night’ and children
could only attend if a parent was with them. Subsequently we went to the Family Fun
Night, followed on the Sunday by the Family Service and we have been attending ever
since.
Aimee is twenty years old now and has become a Christian.
I had always believed in a God, who created me and the world in which we live, but
it was only at Dovecot that I heard and understood the Gospel message, that Jesus
Christ died for me on the cross, to save me from my sin. To give me forgiveness,
everlasting life and a home in heaven.
It is only now that I am a Christian that I realise that it wasn’t me talking to
God when I was ill, but God speaking to me, telling me to lean on him and I have
been doing so ever since.
