Then were there brought unto Him little children, that He should put His hands on them and pray. (Matthew 19:13)
Darius was now the king of Babylon. Daniel, along with two other governors, ruled Babylon but the other governors were jealous of Daniel and wanted to get rid of him. They went to the king and said, "We believe a new law is needed that says people are not allowed to pray to any god except yourself, for thirty days. If they do they are to be thrown into a den of lions."
This pleased the king and he signed the decree. When Daniel saw it he went to his window and prayed to God as he had always done. The governors were happy, everything was going as planned. They told the king and Daniel was arrested and taken to the den of lions. Although Darius was sad, he could not go back on his word.
Darius said to Daniel as he was thrown in, "Your God, who you serve continually, will deliver you." Then the stone was rolled over the mouth of the den.
That night the king could not sleep. Early in the morning he went to the den of lion's, he called out to Daniel "Has your God been able to save you?"
" O King, live forever! My God has sent his Angel and shut the lion's mouths"
The king was so pleased and Daniel was taken out of the den but those who plotted against Daniel were thrown into the den and eaten by lion's.
