My Name is Lydia, I am a Christian and I have lived in Liverpool all my life. I grew
up in a Christian family but as backgrounds, friends or family don't make you a Christian
I have my own personal story of how I came to trust in Christ as my Saviour.
Growing up in a Christian family, I had been taught many Bible stories from a very
small age, however I was aware that having this knowledge didn't make me a Christian.
Throughout my childhood, although I believed in God, I had no real assurance that
I was going to heaven when I died. This troubled me more as I became older, as I
knew that I could not have a relationship with God until I fully believed in the
death of Jesus Christ, which I struggled with.
This all changed when I was 11 years old on a Sunday night in my church. Although
hearing many Sunday messages each week, the clear message of Jesus' death, God's
love and every persons' sin, made me think long and hard about Jesus' sacrifice and
my responsibility as a sinful person.
With these thoughts in my head I went home and read Mark's account of Jesus' death
and felt that although I still found it hard to comprehend, I needed to ask Jesus
into my life because I knew that the wrong things I had done could be removed no
other way. Four years later, I have no regrets, as the life I now live with Jesus
in me and beside me is better than any other one I know of.
“He is my refuge and my fortress;
My God, in Him I will trust.”
Psalm 91:2
