My name is Thelma, I have lived in the Knotty Ash area of Liverpool for most of my
life. I attended Maidford Road and Fincham Road schools. I was brought up to attend
church every Sunday and go to the midweek meetings also. The Church I went to was
Dovecot City Mission (now Dovecot Evangelical Church) on East Prescot Road.
I attended there until I left school and sadly (looking back) I didn't go there on
a regular basis again, only at Easter, Christmas, weddings and funerals as so many
people do. I was taught all about Jesus and His love, but never knew Him personally
as my Saviour and my friend.
Then one day a lady at work invited me to go to a house meeting and it was through
the ministry that I was convicted that I was a sinner and asked the Lord to forgive
me my sins and to come into my life, and I have never looked back.
Life hasn't been plain sailing since then, but then Jesus said whilst we are in this
world we would have to face problems. There have been traumas in my life since then,
which 'Praise the Lord' I would not have got through only for the Lord being with
me to strengthen me. For He says in the Bible "I will never leave you or forsake
you" Hebrews 13:5, for it was He that paid the price for my sins on the cross of
Calvary, and I know for sure when I die, I will be in heaven with Him. Where there
will be no more tears, pain or sorrows. Will I meet you there ? I do pray that I
do.
