Then were there brought unto Him little children, that He should put His hands on them and pray.        (Matthew 19:13)

Children's To Children's Home Page The Writing on the Wall

Babylon had a new king, he was Nebuchadnezzar's son and his name was Belshazzar. One day he had a hugh feast in the palace for a thousand lords. As they partied, Belshazzar called for the silver goblets, which belonged to the Temple in Jerusalem, to be brought so they could drink from them.Suddenly, fingers from a hand started to write on the wall. The king was terrified and called for the astrologers to interpret the writing. They could not but the queen remembered Daniel had interpreted many of Nebuchadnezzar's dreams, so they called for Daniel. "So you are Daniel, one of the Jewish captives. Tell me the writing and I will give you many gifts."

Daniel said,

"Keep your gifts, but I will tell you what the writing says and what it means. Your father learnt that God is the true God who rules all. You knew all about what happened to your father but you haven't humbled yourself, you have taken the vessels from the temple to praise your own gods. The writing says... MENE, MENE, TEKEL, UPHARSIN.

This means God has numbered your kingdom and finished it. You have been weighed in the balances and found wanting. Your kingdom has been divided and given to the Medes and Persians.

That very night Darius, the king of the Medes, took over Babylon and Belshazzar was killed.
