1 TIMOTHY

CONTEXT

1 Timothy  - a letter to a friend

The Church at Ephesus had problems. In this letter to his deputy Timothy, the apostle Paul presents a recovery plan. The theme is the local church: ‘the pillar and ground of the truth. The Church is presented as the pillar which upholds the great truths of the gospel to a lost world. It is vital therefore that every Church should be functioning as God intended and described in His Word. In the 6 chapters which follow Paul deals with the Church’s doctrine, its prayer life its leadership its membership. He ends the letter with a conclusion which corresponds to the introduction and a personal appeal to Timothy.

SERMONS

“And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness:

God was manifested in the flesh,
Justified in the Spirit,
Seen by angels,
Preached among the Gentiles,
Believed on in the world,
Received up in glory”
