THE TEN COMMANDMENTS

CONTEXT

The Ten Commandments

And GOD spoke all these words, saying: " I AM the LORD your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the land of bondage...."

At a mountain in Sinai 3500 years ago, The Creator of the Universe spoke audibly and loudly to the Jewish nation gathered at the foot of the mountain. The ten commands are God’s universal, eternal and moral law to individuals. They provide a formal declaration of what is right and what is wrong, what us sinful and what is not, what we should do and what we should not do as human beings living in God’s world. They are God's standard and man’s rule for life. Although He gave them to Israel the ten commandments are not only for Israel: it is given to Israel for the world.

In this series on the ten commandments we see: the holiness of the triune God; the sinfulness of man; the grace of God in sending His Son to die a sinners death, in the place of sinners and as a sacrifice for sin; the sinlessness of the Lord Jesus Christ and righteousness of a sinless Christ which is transferred to every believer.

The ten commandments are GOD’s law, today for you.
